Knobs have some painted surfaces, a few nicks out of the porcelain; rusty; brass on socket has natural patina; both look great!
Porcelain door knobs first became popular in the Victorian era as a decorative material to create an ornate effect. They were imported from Europe and remained popular from the mid-1800s to the early 1900s. During the Great Depression, glass porcelain knobs became more popular as metal was conserved.
